What it does
Alert! Alert! is a small native desktop app for one job: turning a clip into a ready-to-use alert asset. Load a video from a URL or a local file, crop and trim it on a waveform timeline, and export a clean square alert you can drop into whichever alerts setup you already use. No full editor, no browser engine.
- Load from a video URL (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook via yt-dlp) or a local file
- Native preview — H.264 plays directly, no transcode workaround
- Crop with aspect presets (1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:4, 21:9), zoom, and a draggable box with rule-of-thirds guides
- Trim on the timeline: drag the in/out handles on the waveform scrubber or use the keyboard
- Export with resolution and quality presets, audio normalisation, separate audio and visual fades, and an optional end-buffer freeze
- Overrides: swap in a separate audio track, or use a still image with the clip's audio
- Batch queue: line up clips with their own crop, trim and overrides, then Export All
Install
- Download alert-alert.exe and run it. Nothing to install; keep it on the machine where your stream assets live.
- Accept the one-click tool setup if asked. FFmpeg and yt-dlp download only when you click, and only after their checksums match.
- Load a clip, crop and trim, export. Set the save folder from the App menu; exports never overwrite an existing file.
- Use the exported file in your alerts. It is a plain video file — add it to whichever alerts tool or browser source you already use.
